Stepping Into the Spotlight: Prioritizing Wellness and Owning My Voice

Three years ago, I walked away from my corporate job. At the time, I didn’t know exactly where the road would lead — only that I was being called toward something more meaningful, more aligned, and more rooted in wellness and purpose.

Earlier this month, I stood on stage at the ILEA Connects event in Metro Detroit, delivering a talk titled “From Burnout to Balance: Prioritizing Wellness in a High-Stress Industry.” It was a full-circle moment — not just because it marked a significant milestone in my personal and professional journey, but because I’ve always dreamed of speaking, and this was the beginning of stepping into that dream.

Truthfully, the night before the event, I found myself spiraling with nerves. I questioned what I had signed myself up for. But deep down, I knew this moment was meant to happen. After years of working behind the scenes as an event planner, it felt surreal — and powerful — to be the one on stage, mic’d up, sharing my story.

And the timing? Uncannily perfect.
This opportunity came just shy of the three-year anniversary of me choosing to leave corporate burnout behind and rebuild a life of purpose, balance, and aligned entrepreneurship.

The Talk: Burnout, Wellness & Owning Your Story

In my talk, I opened up about the negative effects of hustle culture — how, as event professionals, we often prioritize everything and everyone else while leaving our own well-being behind. I shared how I once ignored the signs of burnout to the point that it put me in the hospital — and how that moment, though incredibly hard, became the catalyst for the transformational journey I’ve been on ever since.

It’s a message I feel called to share more widely: success doesn't have to come at the cost of your health.

As a Detroit-based speaker, wellness advocate, and consultant for creative entrepreneurs, my mission is to help others redefine success, reclaim their well-being, and build businesses and lives they love — from the inside out.

Gratitude & Growth

This first speaking engagement wasn’t just a check off the vision board — it was a deep, emotional affirmation that I’m stepping into the next version of who I’m meant to be.

Huge thank you to the ILEA Michigan community and to Meg Goodman for creating such a supportive environment. It was the perfect place to start this next chapter.

And on a personal note, I wouldn’t have made it to that stage without the people who supported me in the days leading up to the event:

💫 My mom, for the heartfelt pep talk the night before and always believing in my wildest dreams
💫 My business coach
Lauryn Laszczak, for helping me expand into this next version of my business and guiding me over the past two years
💫
Mendy Beatty, for giving me tools to regulate my nervous system and show up fully grounded
💫 Deb, my skating coach — for instilling the kind of courage that lives with me still
